About My Journey - The Author

Alastair D.M. Hamilton was born and raised in a Christian family with three brothers. His parents sent all four boys to Christian primary, then secondary schools, where all were introduced and led to Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. His faith, over the years, was the only one to take real root and grow, although his oldest brother, sadly deceased, renewed his faith in his latter years.

Over student years and into his twenties, Alastair attended various churches, one of which invigorated his faith enormously. This was Hosannah House Church, part of the house church movement in the 1980s in North London. After moving to Edinburgh in 1987, he began to worship in an Anglican church, where towards the end of his time there, he was called to work on the staff team. He has been a member of a church wherever he has lived ever since. Alastair currently attends Maitland Church, Birkenhead, where his relationship with The Lord is soaring!

Alastair has been a writer all his life and began honing his poetry writing skills in 2004, when he attended a writing course. It inspired and uplifted him, and he has written poetry ever since. He was fortunate to write his father’s (an eminent paediatric cardiac surgeon) memoirs along with him in 2007. This held a wide readership.

Lion’s Light International, and especially Lori Jean Medina, has encouraged these writing skills and Alastair currently helps script the three yearly Newsletters. He has also written on the life of Moses and has contributed various poems in a number of different publications.

Alastair finds the writing process a releasing and freeing activity, a skill he is abundantly grateful for, whereby he finds freedom to express his inner self and to release ideas and emotions perhaps previously undiscovered. This helps him in his communication with God and others.

Alastair is training to become a therapeutic counsellor.
